Steps to A Sale
Do you know the basic steps to a sale? I have outlined the basic steps you should lead your customer through to get the sale: introduction, explanation, credibility, action. Let me know what you think of these steps and if you have found any other ways that have worked for you.
Sales Steps 1- Introduction
Since we have done all of the keyword research and we understand that there is a need for our product or solution, we have already understood the needs of our consumers. Now we need to take the time to write a little bit about ourselves. Repeat what the customer needs are and how you understand or have had this same need. I suggest really showing some emotion and writing some concise yet fully sympathetic emotions about the “symptoms” associate with the consumer’s problem.
Sales Steps 2- Explain the Importance of Finding a Solution
Once you have introduced yourself and have empathized with your visitor it is now time to show them a life without this difficulty and struggles. Show them with words how much better their life will be once they find a solution. This will be easy, because your visitor has probably already day-dreamed and imagined their life without this problem.
Sales Step 3- Show Credibility
This can be done in a variety of ways, you can flat out state that you are trustworthy. I have been told by several people that they don’t believe anyone that states that they are honest. I think it is fine to do this; however, make sure that you can provide some proof and backup your credibility. Most affiliate offers will have testimonies from customers that you can use. Also, being able to offer a guarantee is a great way to show that you have faith in your product and your visitors have are at “no risk” if they purchase your product.
Sales Steps 4- How much will this Solution Cost?
Now it is time to explain to your visitors what the solution you are offering will cost them. If they are still on your page, you have got their attention- do not make them search around for a price that will shock the hell out of them at the checkout. Be upfront, tell them the price and tell them to take action so they can enjoy their life without the pain and un-comfort that they are currently experiencing. After you show them the price and get them imagining a blissful life reiterate the action they need to take to achieve this. It is time for action, it is time for you to tell your visitor what to do.
The Art of Conversion
Mark Hunter who has his own site, The Sales Hunter wrote an article for Marketingnewz.com where he explains this delicate dance that we as internet marketers must do with our visitors.
We have an interesting situation, we cannot talk our way around a disgruntled customer; If they don’t like what we have to say, they leave- with our profits! So I want to explain his PTR (Price Tolerance Ratio) and how we must include this mandatory (part) of the buying and selling process all within our one and only chance with customers.
A Customer’s PTR is the price point when the customer will make a purchase without thinking about the decision and contemplating their money loss. Of course it is easiest to make sales when your visitor wants a solution to their problem and is “desperate” enough to raise their PTR for a solution.
Most of the time as affiliate marketers we do not get to charge what we want for a product. This puts us in an interesting position and forces us to come up with more and more ideas and ways to convert our visitors.
So here is some of the obsticals we will face:
You can convert visitors; however, throughout this process of convincing the visitor how great their life will be with this product, the visitor is resisting the entire process.
Here is my answer:
Explain to the visitor that you understand their issue. You can tell a personal story that you have with this issue, explaining the common feelings that a person experiences when dealing with this issue.
Tell the user you have a product that you have this product that will fix their issue. If someone has been searching the Internet, they usually have a problem, issue- something that needs resolve. You have an answer, present it well.
Tell the user that you have this product and you are not going to rip them off. I think this is best done by saying “I have had this issue, I have tried every product that works. None of them did, I got hassled along the way. This product works for me.”
Have You Found a Way to Use QR codes?
I should first start of this entry by explaining what QR codes are: QR stands for Quick Response. This is because they can be read quickly be a cell phone. The 2 dimensional codes can be scanned by a cellphone, which then takes the information and displays it in a readable version for consumers. I have seen them on everything from magazine ads to a friend’s t-shirt. Your cell phone will display the information that the QR codes creator wants you to know. You can search for nearby locations, collect coupons for use with the retailor and so on.
Macy’s has redesigned their QR codes for a campaign they are expanding. Their code for this campaign gives users the ability to pull up videos from their most loved designer’s. This Backstage QR Code initiative has the designer’s giving tips, latest trends and advice. I find it interesting how Macy’s is using technology to make shopping a more personal experience. I say this with an understood thought from consumers ‘A designer is speaking to me personally…’ Inspiring take on tech-based marketing!
Do you want to create your own QR code for your websites or marketing and advertising campaigns? I created the QR above for one of my websites by using the widget at http://beqrious.com/qrcode/create this is my first attempt at creating a QR code, and I’m sure I could have gone into a lot more detail and been more creative with the information that came up; however, it was quick, simple and it works!
As of now QR codes are mostly being used for physical media advertising. I will be watching to see if internet marketers find a way to use QR codes instead of plain old urls. Macy’s has “dressed up” their QR codes and it is definitely more pleasant to look at red pretty stars (and they also incorporated their logo, brilliant!) Is there a way to take extremely un-personal, “techy UPC codes” and formulate these into inspiring, informational tools that we can use within the internet world?
Adsense Vs. Affilaite
Are you trying to weigh the pros and cons of Pay Per Click versus Affilliate offers. PPC can be tempting since there is little “Sales Page” writing and it seems at first that there is more “action” on your site then watching one person buy your affiliate product once every other week.
Users of Niche Traffic Builder have probably read that we suggest going after affiliate marketing over Adsense or other PPC campaigns. We are not alone in this belief; Gyutae Park wrote “Affiliate Income is Most Stable” for Winning the Web stated in his blog:
“For example, if you are an affiliate of an electronics company and refer a customer who buys a product, the company already has that money on hand to pay you your predefined cut. This is a low-risk strategy and if the affiliate program is set up correctly the company is guaranteed to make a profit from affiliates. Affiliates are essentially being paid a referral commission.”
PPC can be ideal when you have a site that you have just started and it is getting quite a bit of traffic. Having Adsense ads up gives you a way to watch and analyze your traffic while giving you time to find an appropriate product with great affiliate terms.
Commission Junction, Market Health and ShopSense ShopStyle are my most preferred affiliate programs. They offer the best ads and links. Most include pictures of the product and some even offer moving ads that can be placed in your snippet zones. I personally have enjoyed using ShopSense Shopstyle for all of my clothing affiliate needs.
ShopSense ShopStyle has so many ways to put ads up on my site. For example; they have widgets that allow me to show only one designer’s clothing and allowing the user to browse up to 150 garments within my the widget on my page. Another great widget they offer is a design a look box. I can pick products out from their store, remove backgrounds, put items on top of each other and then post this on my site. This level of interacting is key in the fashion world of online shopping.
Commission Junction allows users to gain access to thousands of companies that they may want to become an affiliate to. CJ also has the largest amount of visual ads I have seen from an affiliate sites. Since they have such a large amount of companies and affiliates, CJ allows companies to check out potential affiliates before they accept them.
Market Health is wonderful place to find beauty and health related products. All of the products that I have seen on Market Health have their own amazing image ads and users are directed directly to a squeeze page. (Which we know is great for conversions.) This keeps users from going to an “Amazon” and getting lost in millions of products.
Click Bank is a wonderful option for websites that are built to sell informational products. Ebooks and memberships are the largest section of the Click Bank community. I have not had much need to use Click Bank but I have only heard get reviews from my friends that use it.
Since there are so many affiliate options and it is such a more stable and (usually more) income I push everyone to take the time to see what affiliate options are there for you and your products.
Playing with Google
I was ready a blog post on www.brianshall.com and he was extremely adamant in what seems to be his “holy war” against Google. He makes several claims how Google has used the “monopoly-like” power in the internet world to take out competitors and branch out into almost every sector of the internet. I am a little inspired by his David and Goliath desire to take down Google, but I see more benefit in following the rules and profiting than, being too consumed to see the bigger picture. Now, however you feel about Google, keep in mind; if they feel they can actually compete with Facebook with their Google+, then they really must have some power. I for one would rather play inside the money making playground no matter how un-fair it might seem at times.
So we can be encompassed with what we aren’t getting from Google (e.g. fair ranking while abiding by their laws) or we can play their game. One of my favorite sayings from back home (rural Oklahoma) is: “If you can’t take a couple kicks, then stay out of the cattle shoot.” No matter which way you look at it, Google will bring you more traffic than any other search engine. You had better put on your steel-toe boots because you might have to walk through some crap to be able to reap some rewards.
Playing with Google:
Niche Traffic Builder is setup so that any site that is built already has some SEO basics. I have tried a couple different strategies within NTB and I have found that my sites that are within the top 3 results have:
1) Great unique written content
2) LOTS of great unique written content
3) A video about my keyword and solutions to fix the problem
4) (Generally) subject related images.
I like to think that the written content, videos and images are Google’s way of acknowledge that everyone has their preferred way of learning? Me; I’m a visual and kinesthetic learner so if I am trying to replicate something I prefer watching how-to videos and doing that task at the same time.
Where do I get all of these forms of content? Well, our content writers with Niche Traffic Builder have always been fabulous with my requests, timely and good at following my instructions.
Youtube has helped me tremendously with their “Embed” code. (This can easily be placed throughout your site by using the WYSIWYG editor and clicking on the html view, then pasting the embed code.)
As for images, this can get tricky- as you know copyright images are illegal to take without the owner’s consent. I have several photographer friends that express on a continual basis how frustrating it is when their images are stolen. So you have a couple options in this area; you can “steal” the images, take your own pictures, or use some stock photographs.
I feel like content is the strongest attribute to my website’s ranking. I have also written about On-Site and Off-Site SEO on an earlier blog post: “Ideas for On-Site and Off-Site SEO”
Are You Frustrated With Your Websites?
Lately, I have been doing a lot of what I call “hippie dippie” activities lately. I have meditated, practiced yoga and went to an acupuncturist all before, and while I was happy and content while doing these “self-bettering” practices I eventually became bored and found it much more fun to have a couple drinks on the beach. Of course, having a amazing social life was fabulous; however, I found myself becoming more and more frustrated and angry at what seemed like very small hiccups in my everyday life. A while back I came to the realization that I actually was frustrated, discouraged and mostly angry at myself. I knew what I was doing wrong; yet, I still continued down this path of procrastination. This is why I have started back up with my “hippie dippie” activities again.
So how does my need to work on myself play into affiliate marketing? Very easily in fact! Are you becoming discouraged with the progress that you have made/ not made with your internet career? I have lately, but the answer that I can only come up with is; I know what works for internet affiliate marketing, (anyone that has done the training with NTB does) and I have simple found it more interesting to do something else! So, in realizing this I am going through all of my sites, preforming and non performing and taking a look at what smalls changes I can do that will propel these forward.
I could easily manual back link on Do-follow blogs for several of my sites, even 15 minutes a day I could probably get 2-3 backlinks in. So, if I do that 5 times a week: 2.5 x 5 = 12.5 times 8 weeks: 12.5 x 8= 100 amazing quality backlinks in 2 months!
This is going to be my first step in re-purposing my time with my sites. Matt Gerchow wrote in the NTB forum a while back that you can do 2 small things every day to make your site(s) monumental. This is my new plan of attack! What do you think? Do you prefer to sit down an entire day and hammer out all that you can? Or do find it easier to do a couple small things every day? (Of course, there are going to be days that need more than 2 small things done) In general, what do you find works best for you?
Internet Language Into English
The Oxford Dictionary added 2,000 new words in the 2010 printing. Many of these were added due to overwhelming amount of words that have either been created or needed a new definition because of the internet. The English language is evolving at a large rate to keep up with our need for descriptive words for our experiences online. I have listed some acronyms and internet lingo below that will help you with your internet and Niche Traffic Builder experience.
WYSIWYG- What You See Is What You Get. The WYSIWYG editor is displayed to show content (text and graphics) that directly correlate to the published view. The WYSIWYG editor can be seen in NTB and is quite helpful when one needs to look from HTML code to what the published outcome would be.
Bandwith- The word bandwith means the rate of data transfer. This is usually measured in bps or bits per second.
Blog- can be used as a noun and verb. Typically a blog is a site or part of a website that is updated with stories, information and information about events. (Thank you for reading this one!)
DNS- Domain Name System acts as a “411 translator.” The DNS transfers what we know as domain names into IP addresses.
CSS-which stand for Cascading Style Sheets is used to “separate” document content (html) from layout features like font and color.
HTML- HyperText Markup Language. Html tags are the building blocks of websites. All tags are enclosed in angle brackets and the writer can determine what text, tables, images, etc. show on the browser of the viewer by manipulating what is inside of these tags.
HTTP- HyperText Transfer Protocol. This is the protocol for all data that is transmitted through the world wide web. Bascially is means that any data that is transferred will have to use this protocol for anyone using the www to be able to load this information.
IMAP- Internet Message Access Protocol- This is the protocol that email messages must follow in order to be retrieved correctly.
META tags- see blog post
Spider or webcrawler- This is a program that search engines send out. Since most websites have at least one link, the spider can start anywhere and go from link to link to link, constantly sending new webpages back to the search engines. This is where good backlinking comes into play; ideally we want spiders to see our pages ASAP!
Is Your Browser Inhibiting Your Experience?
Have you ever spoken with a half-way wanna- be techie and mentioned using Internet Explorer. I’m sure they exploded and went on a rampage about how horrible it is and how other browsers have a glorious attributes. I have watched friends talk about browsers with a passion in their eyes that closely resembles religion.
I find it a little funny that people get so worked up about something that seems like a small detail in my world. Viruses, what are those? Malware, still not sure what that is. The fact that I can “catch” something online that will destroy my slick shiny new laptop in 2.2 seconds doesn’t seem to cross my mind.
In fact, I get more annoyed with that “Virus Detected” pop ups that force me to shut down my computer, when I was doing nothing wrong. What happened to the days when only adult content surfers got viruses? I don’t think that I should be exposed to anything while I lust over some sky scrapers at www.shoerazzi.com.
I must face the facts, I do need to be protected online and some browsers are just better at protecting then others. I have read blogs with people giving death wishes out to Internet Explorer and how Microsoft paid for one of the latest safety reports. (Internet Explorer 9 was found to be the safest) Most tech enthusiast recommend Firefox or Chrome.
I grew up only knowing Internet Explorer so I didn’t see what others could do. I personally use Firefox because it has several features on its toolbar that are very useful. I have used Aviary screenshot many times. I downloaded Google Chrome figuring it would incorporate all things ruled by Google. I didn’t find a lot of uses for it, but I was able to make everything ruled by Google.
All of that being said, I have a Firefox crush. I don’t have to worry about compatibility mode, and for using Niche Traffic Builder- there cannot be a better way.
Can You Earn More $ For Bad Grammar?
I started reading internet marketing blogs and noticed a piece about how to use misspellings for internet marketing. I do believe the idea of “close enough” spelling has gained popularity since auto correct and Google’s “did you mean…” helpers. There are plenty of opportunities to take advantage of lazy and/or unknowing searchers. You can do this in 2 ways: misspell your entire domain (applicable using the traffic accumulation model) or misspell a page title.
Using misspelled words for your domain is gaining ground in today’s internet market. I find that if I am trying to reach a younger crowd I will use 2 –in place of- two, to, or too. This example can work with all age groups; however, I think it is more applicable to teens and children. Other examples: stylz/ styles, worx/works, gr8/great. These are obvious and quite cheesy for my taste (but then again it’s not my taste that is buying from my site.)
I do believe Alanis Morissette missed this verse in her song Ironic.
Below is a list of the most 20 misspelled words:
1. accommodate
2. a lot
3. arctic
4. calendar
5. cemetery
6. conscience
7. conscious
8. definitely
9. embarrass
10. existence
11. foreign
12. gauge
13. grammar
14. guarantee
15. harass
16. height
17. independent
18. inoculate
19. its/it’s
20. liaison
- In reference to #19: obviously you cannot use apostrophes in domain names. I have added an extra (s) to some of my domains. *doing so makes a completely new keywords* This has resulted in larger searches and visitors than the exact domain without the extra (s)
Colors are also another misspelling to look at. If you are looking into any medical conditions, colors can be great, not only for the misspellings, but also to look at other keywords options. e.g. Yellow and brown bruise. Jewelry and etiquette can have several different types of misspellings. Remember: Each of these misspellings is another keyword for you!
If you are having a hard time finding misspellings for your original keyword try using Google. You can type “keyword + “misspellings”” into the Google search bar. This can bring up some more ideas for your examination.
Using what we are given is the nature behind the beast. Using misspellings in domains and on page titles is another option for you to look into and might be a great option for capturing traffic.

Watch Conversions Grow by Changing 1 Sentence
Visitors are fairly educated in where they should look for their information. Most can tell within 5 seconds where they need to read to find the information they want and need. If they are wanting to learn about you- trust is what they want first- they will look for a picture or telling words like “my”, “I”, “name”, “welcome.” If your visitors want key points or the pitch of your product they will scroll to the middle of the page or look for quotes in bold from testimonials and important key factors. Since today’s visitors know where to look, and what information they want, your title is the best way to get the visitors to your page.
What is the best way to write a great headline? In the example above using Elvis, we understand that this is attention getting put very unclear. Clever is great for getting a visitors attention; however, let’s work on getting clear and interesting title. You should take into account what your product is going to solve for your visitors. If you are offering a product that will lesson anxiety a fabulous title would be, “Permanent Solution for Anxiety.”
I learned in a marketing class in college that comedy does work well for consumers, there are 2 downfalls to using comedy; The consumer will get tired of the joke- this isn’t a relevant problem for internet marketers because the users will not become oversaturated with the humor, and the consumer will not understand the humor- with this you will have to use your own judgment. I get a little giggle out of the headline for an anxiety product, “Stop Stressing over Finding a Cure for Anxiety.” The beautiful aspect of titles is that they can be changed quickly, easily and tested for conversions.
