Basics of Adsense

If you are using Niche Traffic Builder you have the easiest way to implement these ads into your site.  The snippet zones allow you to switch from Design mode straight to HTML.  The HTML is where you would copy and paste the code that Google gives you.  I find it helpful to look at the size of the planned HTML.  I can quickly choose which size of ad block I want and where it will fit in best.  NTB also shows the user how much the keyword brings with CPC.  Cost Per Click is how much Google pays the site owner for having a visitor click on an ad.  Google takes a very small percentage from the advertiser before paying the site owner.

Page Impressions- This is how many people Google has seen come to your site.  You can also get this number by using Google Analytics; which I recommend.  It is not only a useful tool for understanding your visitors; I think it is fun to see how many people come from all the different countries.  I will be writing about this tool soon because I enjoy it so much.

Page CTR- Click Through Rate- This refers to the number clicks on the actual ads.  Google supplies us with a heat map.  This map uses colors to show you which are the best performing spots on most sites.  I found it useful to look over, and it does make sense.  Use the heat map.  It may be outdated; sometimes right hand side can be hot because people have to look over to grab the scroll bar.  So their eyes will be viewing these ads.  I believe Google does not like to have ads there because there can be accidental clicks on the ads.

Page eCPM- Effective cost per thousand impressions.  This means the amount that you will earn for every 1,000 visitors that you have come to your site.

Blending Adsene- Google allows you to change the size of the ad box, the color of the box and text, the type of text…  For such a simple ad block there are many ways that a page owner can customize the ads to make them fit into the scheme of their site.  Many people find it helpful to base their ad to look like another resource that you are providing the visitor.  Having Google ads just above your page directory is a great place to put the ads.  Google’s heat map shows this are as almost cold in the amount of clicks.  I believe this is because it would be easy for a visitor to click on one of these ads by mistake.  Now, since I said that -NEVER-try to trick your visitors or ask your visitors to click on the ads.  Hearing horror stories about sites and people getting black listed from Google make my skin crawl.  Google is paying you money, think of it as the same as any other business contract; follow the rules that each party agrees to.

I’m very happy to read this. This is the kind of manual that needs to be given and not the random misinformation that is at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this best doc.
