Scraper Sites Beware

Google has been hounded this year with users and critics saying that Google’s results are filled with more and more scraper sites.  Earlier this year Google posted in its blog that while they don’t believe their results are any lessor quality, but did promise new efforts to fight spam and in particular scrapper sites.

Two days ago Matt Cutts, of the search quality group within Google, posted on his Twitter that users could help bust blog scrappers by filling out a Google Doc form with information including the exact search phrase where a scrapping problem is prevalent.  When you go to fill out the form, Google explains that they may be using the data you provide to test and improve their algorithms.

While Google has called on its users help before, the internet world is paying close attention due to the high influx of scraper sites becoming more and more of a problem. In January an algorithm change was announced with Cutts explaining that slightly over 2% of queries change in some way.  In the last eight months webmasters have posted all over Google’s help forum with subjects and anger claiming that they scraper issue had gotten worse.

Since Cutts is asking for user input and specifically targeting scraper sites I am expecting another algorithm change within the next year.  Every time I hear of a new algorithm my heart jumps just a beat.  I experienced no negative effects and a couple placement jumps for my websites during the last change.  I have had a couple people ask me to compare NTB to other quick website building softwares and I try to include confidence in quality sites for my answer.

Making money online requires spending money online, I can’t imagine would it would be like to pay for a program only to be struck with a paralyzing fear that I could lose all of my income.
